
A 27-year-old man, Somtochukwu Ofobuike, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing 19 trailer springs worth N3.4 million.
The defendant is facing a one-count charge of stealing but pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, the alleged theft took place on February 26 at the Aspamda area of the Trade Fair Complex, where Ofobuike reportedly stole the springs belonging to Obinna Nwobodo.
He said police investigations led to his arrest.
The offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until April 7 for hearing.
